Update History

This page provides a detailed listed of all updates and modifications made to the MBCDP.   

• May 10, 2018:   Low Income Dot map layer on the Winnipeg Community map was updated from 2011 Census to 2016 Census data.  This layer is now enabled for querying using either Query or Proximity Tool so that counts of individuals living in low income households can be calculated for existing administrative areas or for custom geographies
• May 17, 2018:  Added Census EthnoCultural 2016 queriable layer to both the Winnipeg and Manitoba Community Maps.   This allows the extraction of data on North American Aboriginal Origins, Recent Immigrants, and Visible minorities for custom areas using the Query and Proximity tools.
• June 28, 2018:  Added the new City Electoral Ward boundaries that will be used in the fall election to the interactive Community Map for Winnipeg
• June 28, 2018:  Enhanced the Census Income query and proximity reports so that they now report the % of the population (total and by age group) who are living in low income households
• July 25, 2018:   Added Low-Income maps to the Map Gallery

• Aug 2, 2018:   Launched Overdose and Drug Related Harms knowledge portal  
• Sept. 10, 2108:   Launched Demographic Dashboard page and 2016 Census population dashboard. 
• Oct. 1, 2018:   Added Winnipeg Community Centers to the Winnipeg Health Region Community map
• Oct. 8, 2018:  Added Family Resource Center Locations, Winnipeg Health Region Community map
• Oct. 18, 2018:   Launched the Transportation and Urban Design Portal
• Nov. 13, 2018:   Added walking and cycling modeshare layers to the Active Transportation map in the Transportation and Urban Design knowledge portal.
• Nov. 15, 2018:   Updated all Income layers to include Average Household Income.  Clickable pop-ups now include average household income in addition to median household income;   queriable income layers that can be queried using the query and proximity tools also now include average household income.  Caveats were added about the calculation of median household income when using the query and proximity tools to query the income layer. 
• March 4, 2019:   Added 2 housing layers (at the dissemination area level)  from the 2016 Census to the Winnipeg and the Manitoba maps: 
  • % Households in Core Housing Need, by age of primary household maintainer;  also contains the Shelter-cost-to-income ratio (STIR). 
  • % of Houses in Unsuitable Housing (this layer also includes a wide range of housing related data including year of construction, houses requiring major repairs, household ownership etc. 
• March 18, 2019:   Created a queriable layer for Housing Data from the 2016 Census.  These have been added to both the Winnipeg and Manitoba web-maps.  This layer includes a wide range of housing data including Core Housing Need, housing type, year of  construction etc.   The queriable layer can be used as follows: 
  • Using the query tool, data one can extract housing data for any custom geography in Winnipeg or Manitoba.  For example, housing conditions within a 2 km buffer of a school or community center could be extracted. 
  • Using the Proximity tool, one can extract housing data for any of the administrative boundaries loaded into the interactive maps such as neighborhood, electoral district, rural health district etc.  
• June, 2019:   Added a Community Data Training Manual to the Training Resources page.   This manual provides a hands-on-training curriculum for staff from community based organizations on how to access a wide range of community data, with a specific focus on the data and tools that can be accessed through the PEG and the Manitoba Collaborative Data Portal (MBCDP) web-sites.
• Aug. 27, 2019:  Updated the Smart Layers in the Winnipeg Community Data Map to contain links to the 2016 Census Data reports developed by the city of Winnipeg.   Also added a Smart Layer for Winnipeg Electoral Wards, and a Regional Smart Layer containing links to Census reports for the City of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Health Region as a whole.  See our blog post on this topic. 
• Aug. 27, 2019:   Updated the administrative boundaries for Winnipeg Neighborhoods, Neighborhood Clusters and Community Areas on the Winnipeg Community map.  
• Dec. 15, 2019:  Updated the Population Dashboard so that it now includes updated population data from both the 2016 Census as well as population estimates derived from the Manitoba Health Population Registry.
